This is a picture of the original chimney that was built in 1798. When Jean Justice and the other people from Omaha came out to see this Johnny's daughter was living in this house and Johnny and his wife had built another about 50 yrds away. He said that when they came here in 1996 they wanted to take some of the hand hewned boards out of the house but he wouldn't let them and I cannot blame him.
No one lives in the house now. His daughter got a doublewide a few years ago and he rented it to some other people and they really trashed it. I went inside with him and it really is a mess. Up stairs you can see the hand hewn timbers used in the house.
He also said their was a second story porch but when his grandfather moved in about 1940, he removed it. This was at the front of the house in the previous picture.
